For several years now, I have been building what I call the Solter Universe: a world of stories, frameworks, and philosophical tools created for young adults and adults who are curious about Jungian psychology, the mechanics of consciousness, and the art of creating real magic through authentic living. The Solter Universe explores shadow integration, the observer effect, quantum coherence, and the deep truth that we are not separate from the world we see — we are its co-creators.
Arae the Tiny Viking Queen and The Dragon in the Mist began as two separate stories. Yet they found each other the way kindred souls do — across distance and difference, drawn together by something they share at the root.
Arae is a six-year-old girl in a snowy Viking village who learns, adventure by adventure, that her size was never a limitation — it was an invitation. She is royalty not because someone crowned her, but because she chose kindness when kindness was hard, chose bravery when her knees trembled, and chose to see the lonely troll under the bridge and offer him jam.
Seraphine is a great crimson dragon who flies into a mist so thick it strips away every certainty she has ever held. She must walk through shadow, face her own reflection, and discover that fire is not destruction — fire is transformation.
Different worlds. Different creatures. Different journeys. And yet the heart of each story beats with the same quiet truth: you are not too small, too strange, too lost, or too different. You are exactly what you choose to be.
The guide called Whisper appears in both tales — a silver presence who walks between worlds, asking the right question at the right moment: Who will you choose to become? This is the question at the heart of the Solter Universe. It is the question Jungian psychology asks when it invites us to integrate our shadow. It is the question quantum mechanics whispers when it tells us that the observer and the observed are one.
Magic, in the Solter Universe, is not a trick. It is the inevitable result of knowing your own worth and choosing — consciously, deliberately, with full knowledge of the shadow — to become the person who heals the world.
These bedtime stories carry those principles in gentle form: accessible to children, resonant for adults. Read them aloud to the child curled beside you. Read them quietly to yourself in the small hours of the night when you have forgotten who you are.
Then remember.
Tiffany Solter, PhD is a mental health professional, educator, advocate, and lifelong seeker of magic whose writing explores the boundaries between life, death, justice, and the profound connections that define us. Born into a family of mountain people spanning Wyoming and Colorado, she grew up shaped, largely, by two grandmothers who taught her, one through train journeys across the West, the other chasing shooting stars across the plains, that anything is possible.
A survivor of a near-death experience in 1996, Solter spent decades integrating what she encountered in that "warm place where light is everything" into a life of healing work, academic achievement, and fierce advocacy. She holds a doctorate with a dissertation on grace and recovery, and has worked alongside peer counselors, nurses, and mental health teams she considers among the most transformative teachers of her life.
Her advocacy voice is unflinching and deeply personal. In "Be a Man": The Violence Society Ignores, Solter turns her clinical expertise and lived experience toward a crisis our culture has long refused to see: domestic violence against men. Drawing on research, survivor accounts, and her own family history, she challenges the archetypal and institutional blind spots that leave male victims invisible, unbelieved, and without adequate resources. The book is equal parts gripping fiction, Jungian psychological analysis, and practical call to action. It is complete with resource guides for survivors, supporters, military families, and children. It is the work of someone who has sat in clinical rooms with these men, loved them as family, and refused to stay silent.
She lives in what she calls Camelot, a home she and her husband Jeff manifested in childhood whispers, surrounded by family, familiars, motorcycles, and what she simply calls the magic.
“Between Worlds” is her memoir. "Be a Man" is her battle cry.
