This book draws the focus back onto a single character, Anne and Gilbert's youngest daughter Bertha Marilla "Rilla" Blythe. It has a more serious tone, as it takes place during World War I and the three Blythe boys - Jem, Walter, and Shirley- along with Rilla's sweetheart Ken Ford, and playmates Jerry Meredith and Carl Meredith - end up fighting in Europe.

I detest it. Terrible book. I can't place my fellings. I read the book three months ago and still feel a pittle torn from this book. It has made my cry yet i love this book and thonk anyone should read it. Especially if you have read any of the othervseven. It is a bit worse then Anne's house of dreams where her baby . . . oops . . . i cant say anymore. i don't want to spoil any books
