About this ebook

NATIONAL BESTSELLER • The “dark comedy with a creative twist” (Miami Herald) that introduced America’s favorite serial killer—the character that inspired the latest Showtime hit series Dexter: Resurrection.

“A macabre tour-de-force.”—The New York Times Book Review

Meet Dexter Morgan, a polite wolf in sheep’s clothing. He’s handsome and charming, but something in his past has made him abide by a different set of rules. He’s a serial killer whose one golden rule makes him immensely likeable: he only kills bad people.

And his job as a blood splatter expert for the Miami police department puts him in the perfect position to identify his victims. But when a series of brutal murders bearing a striking similarity to his own style start turning up, Dexter is caught between being flattered and being frightened–of himself or some other fiend.

Look for all of Jeff Lindsay’s deliciously twisted Dexter novels:
DARKLY DREAMING DEXTER • DEARLY DEVOTED DEXTER • DEXTER IN THE DARK • DEXTER BY DESIGN • DEXTER IS DELICIOUS • DOUBLE DEXTER • DEXTER’S FINAL CUT • DEXTER IS DEAD

I loved being in Dexter's head, but the other characters fell really flat for me, and the plot itself seemed rather lackluster. Show aside, I didn't feel like I got to know any other character but Dexter, and LeGuerta at the end just seemed really forced, and Brian's reveal felt like it came way out of left field, I would have thought Dexter would investigate like he did in the show.... Disappointing all around with the exception of being in Dexter's head.

Yeah, this book was kinda blah compared to the show. I had read this book before when I was 21 and rated it average... On reread, I can see why young me was critical of this book. I'll start off with the positives; it brings you into the world of Dexter, Deb, Vince, Maria, Doakes, and Bautista. It felt great getting reacquainted with them. The action in 85% of the book was gripping and had you hooked. Such fun seeing Dex in his element and killing. The first chapter is AWESOME! It made me very nostalgic. Now the negatives; the last 15% completely killed the book. Not only did this book have a horrible ending, it never explained how things occurred in the last 40 pages!!! Everything is left open ended and far from a conclusion. We are meant to make sense of the end of the book and it's meant plot holes. Nope! It was such a disappointment. I wanted younger me to be wrong, I wasn't. Sorry Dexter, this was a dud. 3.25/5

Ce livre a été une excellente découverte pour moi. J’ai aimé l’intrigue, les personnages et surtout l’émotion qui se dégage de l’ensemble.
