Michael Burke was born in Liverpool and grew up on the Wirral in Merseyside. He studied languages at university, eventually becoming fluent in Greek, French and Portuguese. Writing and drawing, however, were his main passions and he wrote on a wide range of topics including poetry, fiction, current affairs and life-observations. Possessing a very keen sense of humour a lot of his work is witty and comic in nature. He loved the city where he was born with its maritime history and traditions and he was an avid supporter of Liverpool Football Club, but above all else, he loved people and wanted to hear their stories. He died in November 2022 aged thirty-six.
