Peggy Shreves is a licensed clinical psychologist with over twenty years of experience treating children and adolescents with anxiety disorders, OCD, and related conditions. She received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed her fellowship in child and adolescent anxiety at the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety at the University of Pennsylvania, where she trained under leading researchers in cognitive behavioral therapy and exposure based treatments.
Dr. Shreves is the founder and director of the Worry Free Child Center, a clinical practice in Portland, Oregon, that specializes in evidence-based treatment for anxious children and their families. She has trained hundreds of therapists nationally through workshops on cognitive behavioral therapy for pediatric anxiety, and she serves on the advisory board of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America's Children and Adolescence Special Interest Group.
Her approach to treatment emphasizes the central role of parents in child anxiety recovery. She has developed a parent-coaching model that trains mothers and fathers to become effective exposure coaches for their own children, reducing treatment time and empowering families with lasting skills. Her research has been published in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology and Child Psychiatry and Human Development, and she has been a featured expert in Parents magazine, the Washington Post, and NPR's Life Kit parenting series.
