In Anlehnung an Musikstücke schrieben Literaten Essays und Gedichte; umgekehrt orientierten sich romantische Komponisten an der Literatur, und schließlich grundiert erlebte Musik in Konzerten und Opernaufführungen die literarische Romantik. Das 14. Kolloquium der Internationalen Arnim-Gesellschaft widmete sich den vielfältigen Aspekten dieses Themas hinsichtlich Poetik, Biografie und Rezeption und untersuchte an einzelnen Fallbeispielen, wie sich die beiden Künste in dieser Zeit gegenseitig bereicherten.
