About this ebook

“The stillness of Samadhi is awakened awareness.

The silence of Coma is disrupted by consciousness.

The unconsciousness of Anaesthesia is a medically induced suspension.

Though outwardly similar, their inner realities are profoundly different.”

Humanity has always been fascinated by the mystery of consciousness. Across civilizations, people have attempted to understand what truly happens when the mind becomes silent, when awareness withdraws from the external world, or when the body appears motionless and disconnected from ordinary perception. Ancient sages approached this mystery through meditation and inner observation, while modern science approached it through neurology, physiology, and clinical research.

This book, “Samadhi, Coma, and Anaesthesia,” emerges from a sincere attempt to bridge these two worlds — the contemplative wisdom of the inner sciences and the analytical rigor of modern medicine. At first glance, Samadhi, Coma, and Anaesthesia may appear externally similar. In all three states, the body may become still, breathing may slow, and response to the outer world may reduce. Yet beneath this outward resemblance lie fundamentally different realities.

Samadhi represents heightened awareness and conscious stillness.

Coma reflects neurological disruption and pathological unconsciousness.

Anaesthesia is a temporary medically induced suppression of conscious experience.

Understanding these distinctions is not merely an intellectual exercise. It invites us to explore deeper questions:

What is consciousness?

Can awareness exist beyond thought?

Why does breath change with mental states?

How are the brain, heart, nervous system, and environment interconnected?

Can intentional practices influence human physiology in transformative ways?

These questions became especially significant during practical observations and meditation-based explorations involving ॐ (Om) chanting.

Over years of personal practice, and later during a structured 30-day ॐ chanting observation study, remarkable patterns repeatedly emerged. Participants practicing slow ॐ chanting with a straight spine demonstrated noticeable changes in: breathing rhythm, emotional balance, calmness, focus, digestion, anger regulation, and mental clarity.

One observation became particularly fascinating: when meditation deepened, breathing naturally slowed to an extraordinary degree — sometimes resembling descriptions traditionally associated with yogic Samadhi. Yet unlike sleep or unconsciousness, awareness remained present and clear.

This led to a deeper inquiry into the relationship between respiration, sound vibration, vagus nerve activation, nervous-system coherence, and environmental influence on consciousness. An equally profound dimension of this exploration emerged through tree-based meditation practices.

For centuries, sages across India meditated beneath trees such as the Peepal, Banyan, and Neem. Modern life often treats such traditions as merely symbolic or religious. However, closer observation suggests that these practices may also possess significant biological and neurological relevance.

Sitting with the spine gently touching a tree while practicing ॐ chanting appeared to create a unique state of stability and inward calmness. Scientifically, several mechanisms may contribute to this effect: stabilized posture and reduced muscular tension, smoother respiratory rhythm, environmental cooling and sensory quietness, grounding effects through earth connection, rhythmic acoustic resonance during chanting, and enhanced parasympathetic nervous system activation. Nature, breath, vibration, posture, and consciousness may not be separate processes after all. They may function as interconnected dimensions of one integrated human experience.

This book does not claim final answers. Rather, it seeks to open a respectful dialogue between spirituality and science — without blind belief and without arrogant dismissal. Ancient wisdom observed consciousness subjectively through direct experience; modern neuroscience studies it objectively through instruments and measurement. Both perspectives hold value when approached with humility and sincerity.

The intention of this work is not to promote superstition, fear, or dogma, but to encourage observation over assumption, inquiry over imitation, and conscious experience over mechanical belief.

May this book inspire researchers, meditators, doctors, educators, seekers, and thoughtful readers to explore the extraordinary relationship between the human mind, the nervous system, breath, sound, nature, and awareness itself.

For within the silence of breath, beneath the shade of a tree, and within the vibration of ॐ, humanity may rediscover not only calmness — but a deeper understanding of consciousness and life itself.

About the author

"Pain is only felt when one is hurt. But being hurt is not as important as learning from that hurt, transforming through it, and guiding others."

Anoop Agarwal lives this truth. When life offered him betrayal, falsehood, superstition, and negativity — not from strangers, but from his own people — he chose awakening over breaking. Every wound became a lesson, every experience became a discovery. He deeply reflected on human thought, behavior, aura, crystals, and spirituality, and translated those reflections into words.

He is not merely a writer — he is a seeker, a guide, and a carrier of consciousness in society. There is no gap between what he says and what he lives; his writing is his life, and his life is his message. For him, social welfare is not a subject — it is his purpose.

The symbolism Anoop Agarwal presents is profound, layered, and spiritually rich. His reflections on life, practice, society, and consciousness unfold in subtle layers — touching every reader deeply. His insights reveal the hidden connections between the “Unknown Truth,” “Desire,” “Preference,” and “Intellect.” He expresses a vital need of our times — to rediscover the essence behind ancient traditions, to separate them from superstition, and to bring forth the scientific and spiritual truths that lie behind them.

Essence of His Writing

Anoop’s writings transcend sects, ideologies, or dogmas. They search for the fundamental questions of human consciousness. Integrating breath, sound, vibration, the five elements, nature, science, and Vedic experiences, his work guides humanity toward a more unified consciousness.

A Flame Toward the Satya Yuga

At the age of 69, Anoop Agarwal — a postgraduate from Delhi University — is not merely an author but a lifelong seeker. He is engaged in a continual exploration of life’s profound mysteries through both spiritual and scientific perspectives. His practice is not for self-attainment alone but for the upliftment of all humankind.

Through daily meditation, self-study, communion with nature, and sound therapy, he experiences subtle dimensions of life. He shares them with society through his writings, presentations, and dialogues — so that every person may turn inward, connect with their inner light, and take one step closer to Satya Yuga — the Age of Truth.

Every morning, Anoop draws inspiration from the Sun, touches the Earth in gratitude, converses with the Air, bathes in the Water, and meditates upon the vast Sky — awakening the consciousness within. He never read scriptures — Nature became his teacher.

Vision and Mission
