Jo and Lee, private investigators working for their own agency (No Stone Unturned) are all set a new client. A retired newspaper journalist wants the two ladies to look into a cold case. Several years ago a young woman was found tied to a statue outside a group of luxury apartments. She was nude except for a necklace. She died by strychnine poisoning .... officially they are calling it a suicide. She was never identified. A young woman walks into their office wanting them to look for her boyfriend, who has been missing for well over a week. He was last seen at a party ... and then disappeared. The girlfriend desperately wants him found ... not only does she love him but she has something important to tell him. As Jo and Lee start investigating, they see threads linking the two cases. Everyone they're trying to question all seem to be hiding things. And someone doesn't want them looking too closely. How far are they willing to go to keep those secrets? And how far are Jo and Lee willing to go to unleash those secrets to the light of day? This is a well-written crime fiction with two female sleuths who are outstanding. Even though not related, they act like siblings with lots of humor and even a squabble here and there. Aunt Edie, who is their office manager, is a hoot. Twists and turns keep the suspense high and kept this reader captivated. Although second in the series, I highly recommend starting at the beginning.
