This short story by Edgar Allan Poe was a bit disappointing to read, there was a missed opportunity to include a sea creature from Norwegian mythology & folklore. Nothing really happened in the story, so I don't understand why the sailor was so afraid or why his hair that was originally raven-black changed to pure white due to being afraid. He was afraid of the whirlpool the Maelström "Moskoe-Ström" but nothing else was really explained about why he was a afraid so it was just lacklustre in it's conclusion. I love Edgar Allan Poe, he is my favourite writer & poet but this was just meh to read to be honest, since the short story is about seamen A.K.A sailors in Norway I was expecting there to be a sea creature from Norwegian mythology & folklore, since Edgar Allan Poe was the original creator of Gothic Horror, detective stories, disturbing, macabre short stories and poetry. I was expecting something creepy, disturbing or macabre to happen in the short story but I was disappointed while reading the short short, however I love the rest of Edgar Allan Poe's short stories & poems my favourites are "The Mask of the Red Death" , "The Fall of the house of Usher", "The Raven", "A Dream Within A Dream" "The Oval Portrait", "The Pit and the Pendulum", "The Murders in the Rue Morgue, " Ligeia" and many others.
