About this ebook

Cuban judo is not just a sport—it tells a story of strength, cleverness, and pride for the country. It started quietly when Japanese immigrants introduced it to Cuba. Over time, it grew to be very strong in the world, showing what Cuba is like: smart, persistent, and full of passion.

The book follows the history of judo in Cuba since its very roots, created from the lively mixture of cultures. It changed with the Cuban Revolution. It is the story of how a small island country, usually beset with economic and political problems, managed to create an enduring legacy against all odds. With the help of local groups and state programs, judo began to grow in cities and small towns, creating champions who became national heroes.

This book shares personal stories, important events, and key moments in history to show how Cuban judo changed the sport. It highlights the amazing successes of women athletes who won Olympic gold and the new techniques that created a unique Cuban style. It shows the passion and spirit of a country's way of practicing martial arts.

But this is not just a story of winning. It's about overcoming obstacles: athletes training with few resources, traveling the world while facing political isolation, and dealing with the stress of representing their country internationally. It's about how a small group of coaches and athletes turned their love for the sport into something that would leave a lasting impact, teaching the next generation and making sure that Cuban judo stays strong.

This book epitomizes the Cuban side of history, with stories of success and sadness, of strength and togetherness. It speaks to a time when sports can go beyond the limits and represent something more important. For those who care about history, sports, or the indomitable spirit of a people, here is the story of Cuban judo: a story of courage, creativity, and great self-motivation.
