About this ebook

In this inspiration for the new season of the #1 Netflix show The Lincoln Lawyer, defense attorney Mickey Haller is forced to bend the law until it breaks when he's hired to defend a man accused of killing a prostitute in this suspenseful novel, the "best one yet" (The Washington Post).

Mickey Haller gets the text, "Call me ASAP - 187," and the California penal code for murder immediately gets his attention. Murder cases have the highest stakes and the biggest paydays, and they always mean Haller has to be at the top of his game.
When Mickey learns that the victim was his own former client, a prostitute he thought he had rescued and put on the straight and narrow path, he knows he is on the hook for this one. He soon finds out that she was back in LA and back in the life. Far from saving her, Mickey may have been the one who put her in danger.

Haunted by the ghosts of his past, Mickey must work tirelessly and bring all his skill to bear on a case that could mean his ultimate redemption or proof of his ultimate guilt. The Gods of Guilt shows once again why "Michael Connelly excels, easily surpassing John Grisham in the building of courtroom suspense" (Los Angeles Times).

Dang brah! Michael Connelly has cemented himself as my absolute favorite author. He has removed Stephen King at the top of the pile and has emerged the true King of storytelling. What an amazing entry into the Lincoln Lawyer series. The court case wasn't exactly the main character here, it was the story that built the case and the amazing finale to the trial that brought everyone to their knees... Just wow! This is spectacular storytelling and I'm blown away at one mans creativity for world building. The Lincoln Lawyer never disappoints and this is yet more evidence to that fact. I'm not giving away anything in this review, read this series (and the Bosch series) for yourself and fall in love with the gifts MC has giving us now for 35+ years. 4.5/5

Boo, hiss, I was disappointed I didn't get a complete story. The Gods of Guilt was a sell-out for a Hollywood sequel. Unfair since I love almost everything Michael Connelly writes.

Connelly is off his game in this novel. The title doesn't really work and his use of the phrase in the story feels forced and unnatural. The author seems obsessed with Haller's guilt and his projection of "godliness" on the jury, but never really portrays any such behavior by the jury rather flaunting Haller's ability to manipulate the jury, his staff and the reader.
