About this ebook

PREMYOGA (The Yoga of Love) is a book based on the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, presenting his reflections on divine love, devotion, and the spiritual path of the heart. In this work, Swami Vivekananda explains how pure love, when freed from selfishness and attachment, becomes a powerful means of union with the Divine. Drawing upon the essence of Indian spiritual tradition, especially the ideals of Bhakti, the book explores love not merely as emotion, but as a sacred discipline leading to inner transformation.

The central theme of the book is Prema-selfless, elevating, and God-centered love. Swami Vivekananda describes Premyoga as a path in which the human heart is purified through devotion, surrender, faith, and constant remembrance of the Divine. He shows that true love asks for nothing in return; rather, it gives itself completely and finds fulfillment in loving service. Through this path, an individual gradually rises above ego, desire, and fear, and moves toward spiritual freedom and enlightenment.

About the author

Swami Vivekananda; (12 January 1863 - 4 July 1902), born Narendranath Datta, was an Indian Hindu monk. He was a chief disciple of the 19th century Indian mystic Ramakrishna. He was a key figure in the introduction of the Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world, and is credited with raising interfaith awareness, bringing Hinduism to the status of a major world religion during the late 19th century. He was a major force in the contemporary Hindu reform movements in India, and contributed to the concept of nationalism in colonial India.

Vivekananda founded the Ramakrishna Math and the Ramakrishna Mission. He is perhaps best known for his speech which began with the words "Sisters and brothers of America ...," in which he introduced Hinduism at the Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago in 1893. He later travelled to the United States, representing India at the 1893 Parliament of the World's Religions. In India, Vivekananda is regarded as a patriotic saint, and his birthday is celebrated as National Youth Day. He died on 4 July 1902.
