Dramatic actor Peter Coyote has been a Zen practitioner for three decades, and here reads Suzuki-Roshi's classic in his well-modulated stentorian voice, without flourishes, but with a fine appreciation of Suzuki-Roshi's words. This book was the very first mindfulness book I received from my brother. I must say it can be viewed many ways and not to be taken seriously all of the time. For instance, the first chapter describes a sad, dark world. It's impossible to live thinking this way or meditating along with it thinking everybody is angry. I didn't need some of the chapters later on, just the first half of the book which gives you possibilities of "what might be".
