Xuanzang and his disciples arrived at Wuzhuang Temple, the abode of Immortal Zhenyuan. In thetemple was a special ginseng fruit tree that produced only thirty fruits every ten thousand years. ImmortalZhenyuan was away when they arrived at the temple, but he had instructed his two servants to treat Xuanzangto two ginseng fruits. However, Xuanzang was frightened at the sight of the fruit which resembled anewborn infant and refused to eat it. Pigsy asked the monkey to steal three other fruits for themselves.When the servants realized that fruits were missing, they accused Xuanzang of theft and began abusingthe group. The enraged monkey destroyed the ginseng fruit tree and led the team to escape at night. WhenZhenyuan returned to his temple and learned what happened, he captured the pilgrims and asked them torevive the ginseng fruit tree. The monkey asked Guanyin for help and brought the tree back to life.
