In the first collection of Weilin’s Zen Reflection, the reader was invited to walk among poems that echo the

timeless voice of Zen—moments of sudden awakening, meditations on impermanence, and glimpses of nature as a mirror of the mind. That volume was a beginning, a doorway opened.

This second collection continues the journey, yet with a deeper intent: to gather scattered verses into

thematic paths, so that each chapter reflects a facet of practice and realization. Here, the poems are not

arranged by the order of their writing, but by the resonance of their spirit—awakening and practice,  impermanence and mortality, solitude and freedom, paradox and koan, nature and timelessness, worldly

emotions, and the poetic heart of Su Shi. Each poem is presented with three layers:

• The original verse, preserving its classical

cadence.

• An English rendering, refined to carry the same

poetic breath across languages.

• A reflection offering philosophical depth and

meditative guidance.

Together with images that accompany each piece, the collection seeks not merely to explain Zen, but to

evoke it—to let the reader feel the silence between words, the sudden clarity beyond thought.

Zen is not found in accumulation of knowledge, nor in rigid practice alone. It is glimpsed in the falling of

blossoms, in the laughter of solitude, in the paradox of fire and ice, in the stillness of mountains and clouds.

These poems are not answers, but invitations: to pause, to reflect, to let go, and perhaps to awaken.

May this second volume serve as both mirror and companion, guiding the reader to see that the path is

not elsewhere, but always here—within the heart, pure as the lotus rising from the water.

Author : Wei Lin

Now in my seventies, I have long since passed the age of recklessness. Formerly employed in the service industry, I understand the mundane realities of life yet recognise the pure light within the heart. Though my life is stable and my family harmonious, I have always delighted in the company of ancient sages, finding companionship in poetry and books, and solace in classical texts. My thoughts know no

fixed rules, and my inspiration has no barriers. In the 1980s, briefly took monastic vows, observing the

Eight Precepts, studying under Masters Baodeng, Jinshan, and Zhifan. Unconventional in character, a free-spirited wanderer. I dwells with wife and daughter, walks with dogs, finds companionship in half the Analects, guidance in Buddhist verses, and a mirror for the heart in chapters of military strategy. Thus I navigates my remaining years without growing old.
