Tristan Guajardo is a professional photographer and educator with over fifteen years of experience spanning commercial portraiture, landscape, and event photography. After earning a degree in Visual Arts from the University of Texas, he worked as an assistant to several renowned advertising photographers before founding his own studio in Austin, Texas. His clients have included national magazines, boutique brands, and non-profit organizations, for which he has produced award-winning imagery that balances technical precision with authentic storytelling.
Tristan’s passion for teaching led him to create a series of online workshops and in-person masterclasses that have been attended by thousands of aspiring photographers worldwide. He is a regular contributor to photography publications such as *Digital Photographer* and *Shutter Magazine*, where he writes about composition theory, lighting techniques, and post-production workflows. His approachable style and emphasis on practical, hands-on learning have made him a sought-after speaker at industry events, including PhotoPlus Expo and the Out of Chicago Photography Conference.
When not behind the camera or in front of a classroom, Tristan enjoys exploring remote landscapes—from the deserts of the American Southwest to the coastal cliffs of New Zealand—always with a compact mirrorless kit and a notebook. He believes that the best photograph is the one you make today, using what you have, with the light that is given. *Digital Photography Composition and Lighting Handbook* is his second book, following the critically acclaimed *The Street Photographer’s Companion*. He currently lives in Austin with his wife and two dogs, and continues to mentor emerging photographers through his online community at www.tristanguajardo.com.
