Loved the first book, hated everything that followed. Felt the premise was unique and beyond captivating, but the rest of the series (written four years later) was beyond a disappointment. Especially the last book, in which there is no justice for Antaska as a victim, no shining moment for her as the hero, and no closure concerning the problems (Woogahs and human slavery) facing the universe. By the end, the series condoned assault and encouraged victim-blaming, shame, and something that resembled Stockholm syndrome. This was not a romantic sci-fi adventure. It was like watching a flower wither. I wish Antaska could have found some strength and confidence.

When I began reading this well written story I found it very odd. And yet I could not stop reading! The characters are fully developed and the situation is so intriguing. The plot is well paced. And I don't want to leave this world and these characters. I look forward to reading the next book in the series

Alien Pets by Trisha McNary is a book that is part of the Xeno Relations series. In this book, a human named Antaska and her pet cat Potat are planning to get hired by a Verdante alien to take them into space as his or her human assistant. They end up getting picked by a shorter male Verdante named M. Hoyvil and the board the Verdante’s alien spaceship. This is the beginning of a very interesting discourse on who and or what a pet might or might not be. This book was a very entertaining and fun to read. The characters were all very well written and the interactions between them very realistic. I think that this book also has an excellent moral for anyone who is paying attention. This is the perfect book for anyone who enjoys a great story. Alien Pets is a great story about the amazing and interesting reality of pet ownership.

About the author

One day about four years ago, after a having a vivid dream about aliens the night before, I had to drive across my state to an appointment. The sky started pouring down unexpected snow, even though it was early spring. The trip that should have taken four hours turned into four hours just to get a third of the way. During that time, I started writing a book in my head based on that dream--or maybe the book started writing itself. I never made it to that appointment, but when I got back, I felt like I had to write that book. In the years that followed, more dreams came that filled in the plot for two entire books.
