Trigger Finger

He stepped in to stop a murder. He ended up starting a war.

Eldridge Sample is having a good day—until a woman’s scream in the high desert tears it apart. Riding into a dry wash to investigate, the former U.S. Marshal interrupts a brutal ambush and saves Ruth Clay, the estranged daughter of the most powerful man in the territory.

Baron Clay doesn't just own the massive Bar C ranch; he owns the town of Sundown, the water rights, and the Sheriff’s badge. And he’s willing to kill his own flesh and blood to keep a secret deed buried in the dirt.

Now, with a thousand-dollar bounty on his head and a corrupt town closing in, Sample must navigate a deadly game of cat-and-mouse to get Ruth to the county seat alive. But as the bodies pile up and the fires burn, Sample realizes he isn't just fighting a tyrant—he’s arming a successor.

In a land where the law is bought and paid for, Sample finds that the only thing cheaper than a bullet is a family loyalty.

"Sins of the father don't die," Sample said. "They just change hands."

A noir-soaked Western thriller about the corrupting nature of power and the violence of succession. Trigger Finger delivers the razor-sharp dialogue and moral complexity of Elmore Leonard with the relentless pacing of a classic range war.
