About this ebook

A heartwarming story about persistence and the power of reframing worries and frustrations from the author of Ruby's Worry and the illustrator of The Snow Lion.

Silva the otter is the youngest of her brothers and sisters and is greatly loved by her family. But still, Silva is overwhelmed by frustration that she can’t swim, climb, jump or glide as well as the others. That is, until the day her brother teaches her the magic word ‘yet’, gifting Silva the tool with which she can reframe her worries.

Join Silva as she comes to learn that these aren’t things that she can’t do – she just can’t do them… yet, in this second collaboration from internationally renowned picture book makers Tom Percival and Richard Jones (co-creators of Quiet).
  • Great for starting conversations about persistence and developing a growth mindset
  • The ‘power of yet’ can help to build confidence and emotional well-being
  • Stunning artwork and a moving story, featuring adorable little otter Silva and her family

About the author

Tom Percival is an author/illustrator who lives in Stroud with his family and The Best Dog in the World (apologies if you happen to think that your dog is The Best Dog in the World). A lot of his books explore social connections, community, equality and emotional growth, but he also makes room to write a bit of pure escapist fun once in a while. When he’s not making books he enjoys walking and running around the countryside with either his family, or The Best Dog in the World, and sometimes ALL of them at once. He also makes music and enjoys taking photographs.

RJ grew up in Leamington Spa before moving down to Devon to study illustration at the University of Plymouth in Exeter and never went home again! After finishing his degree he stayed on to complete a P.hD. While working on his thesis he got a ‘temporary job’ in Exeter's Central Library and somehow found himself working there for more than ten years. When not at his desk he enjoys bobbing about in the sea, swimming in rivers, walking in woods, listening to audiobooks on the bus and stroking the cat. He now works full time as an author and illustrator.
