The Witness

Eight years ago, Mara Voss watched her seventeen-year-old sister vanish from a dock in the space of a few seconds.

No body was found. No explanation was ever discovered. And eventually, everyone except Mara seemed to forget exactly who Ellie had been.

Mara built a life around that unanswered loss—until an insurance investigation brings her face-to-face with something impossible.

People are disappearing.

Not just physically.

Their names vanish from records. Their photographs become meaningless. Their families lose the ability to remember them. And in every case, the disappearance happens during a brief moment when no one is truly watching.

At first, Mara believes she has discovered a terrifying pattern.

Then she discovers that the pattern has been happening for far longer than anyone knows.

With the help of a disgraced memory researcher, a skeptical detective, and a secretive organization that has spent centuries documenting inexplicable disappearances, Mara follows the trail toward a mystery buried beneath the ice in Antarctica.

But some mysteries are not waiting to be solved.

They are waiting to be seen.

And Mara may finally have found the place where the truth about her sister is still alive.

THE WITNESS is a haunting supernatural mystery about memory, disappearance, grief, and the terrifying consequences of looking away.
