"The story follows the life of Mary Hansyke, born at the time of the Luddite Riots who becomes the owner of a ship yard in the North of England. The story follows her relationships with men and her management of the business, with information about the development of shipbuilding from sail to steam. The subject has been well researched and the story is an example of women achieving positions of power in a man's world during the rise of industrial Britain."--Google Books.
