They would have been still more surprised if they had known what his business trip to Yorkshire to view some Clauval paintings was to lead to. In meeting the delightful but mysterious Alexandra Bell, Julian was about to learn a lesson in life and love. He learnt it in Scotland, Yorkshire, Devon, London. His mystified family looked on.
