Loved reading the inspirational and awesome story. When Oliver comes back from war with his face disfigured and a missing eye, he breaks things off with the love of his life Pearline, but when the Halifax explosion happens, Oliver helps with the survivors, and Pearline takes care of children and a baby in her parents' home in addition to her younger sister, Sophia, who isn't speaking because of the atrocities. she has seen. Read the highly recommended and wonderfully written story.

What an incredible story! Just the historical context itself is mind-boggling! When I say that these characters had it hard, I mean they had it HARD. Watching them all come together and help each other to get through the mountains of indescribable loss was a bittersweet thing to behold.
