Tell It Slant explores how Jesus used language -- he was earthy, not abstract; metaphorical, not dogmatic. His was not a direct language of information or instruction but an indirect, oblique language requiring a participating imagination -- "slant" language. Eugene H. Peterson (1932–2018) was a longtime pastor and professor of spiritual theology at Regent College, Vancouver, British Columbia. His many acclaimed books include Tell It Slant, The Jesus Way, Eat This Book, and the contemporary translation of the Bible titled The Message.
Peter Santucci, a former student and teaching assistant of Eugene Peterson's, is pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Lebanon, Oregon.
