In the run-up to the Malaysian General Elections, the Board felt that the country was under threat. The Board blamed human rights activists and other liberal movements for sowing discord.Β

Rozlan Mohd Noor debuted in the literary world in 2010 with his novel 21 Immortals: Inspector Mislan and the Yee Sang Murders which was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Best First Book Award. Since then he has written two more Inspector Mislan novels. He also published another crime thriller Bayu (The Wind) and a Malay novel titled Infantisid.
