About this ebook

The 1897 Vault follows Lena, a single woman in her late thirties who buys a cheap fixer-upper in a quiet rural town, mostly because the roof leaks and the price is dirt. She’s not looking for history; she’s looking for peace. But the house has other plans. From day one, things go wrong: pipes burst with black water that smells like iron, chairs tilt sideways overnight as screws mysteriously loosen, floors creak like footsteps underneath. Her dog Rusty digs obsessively, under couches, under stairs, under the porch, bringing up bits of bone and plastic she pretends aren’t real. Her cat Milo? He just sits on the windowsill, staring at the roof like he’s waiting for something to fall.
