Sean McFirnn left his native Australia at eighteen to attend university and to have his career in the USA. This was not for lack of love for his native-land, yet, in mid-century, his countrymen's backward-view of Male-Male Love, especially BDSM, made his life unbearable. The US was itself no BDSM Utopia, so he made the decision to become an American-citizen and to change his name so that no word of a potential arrest in a gay-bar would get back to his very religious family. 'I wanted,' says Sean, 'complete freedom to be myself and take my consequences by myself. I was after-a-fashion born again' The feared arrest did not happen. Life opened up with the 1970s. He had a long successful career and also had many BDSM experiences in America and some in Europe. Now retired and living in relative isolation in the rainforests of Kuai, Sean has set out to write novels showing Aussies that their cult of Mateship can exist side-by-side with consensual, healthy, and sane BDSM relationships. In intention at-least, he has sought to offer by-way-of thanks to the BDSM world, this: he seeks to sketch BDSM in its psychological and philosophical complexity--and to do so in a very personal prose-style. Yeah-look, mates, it is only a sketch, but it was made with love.
