About this ebook

Scared of thunder, lightning and being "flopped" by the humans, Pippi the squirrel wants to return to her mama's warm, cozy nest. Instead, she and her siblings stumble on a better nest...in forbidden human territory.

The attic nest is too perfect to resist, and soon she is drawn into a dangerous game of teasing the people. When their teasing goes too far and puts their lives in danger, she is forced to abandon the perfect nest.

However, she returns in order to rescue her brother. Instead, she becomes trapped inside. With little food and the humans plotting her demise, Pippi must depend on her wits to survive, proving to herself and the world just how brave a little squirrel can be.

I'm still a bit perplexed about what Age group this exciting, well written, sometimes scary little novella is for... The level of english composition is a bit Too advanced for our Grandkids who are starting to read alone... and possibly too scary, in the creating unease sense, as well. Boys, being boys, won't admit these kinds of feelings, lest they lose 'Reading Alone' privileges & "big boy" status. A similar aged girl is firm in her view that; she doesn't "like it!' and 'doesn't want to stay awake wondering if more horrible things are going to happen to the squirrels!" A very sensible attitude for an 8yr old! (2026) Her sibling - at 10 going on put-upon-teen - looks askance when asked for his lofty opinion & after the swiftest of "speed-reads" declares; "It's about dumb humans treatin' dumb animals cruelly. Not News! But, Don't read it to the 4 & 5 yr olds, you'll scar them for life!" (this is verbatim!) So, who's it for?! In the end, I did read it aloud - but with my own edits!

About the author

When two squirrels moved into Sara Shafer’s attic, she went on a quest to figure out what they were doing. She knocked on the ceiling, and they scratched back. Imagining what they thought and felt, she wrote The Bravest Squirrel Ever and then continued their adventures with The Bravest Squirrel in the Forest and The Bravest Squirrel in School.

Although her attic is currently vacant, the squirrels outnumber the humans in her neighborhood and could decide to take over at any moment. She watches for signs of invasion as she plots more stories of squirrel bravery.
