About this ebook

Microbiome and Tumorigenesis: Dysbiosis in Different Cancers examines the intricate relationship between the human microbiome and cancer. Organized into three parts, the book opens with the conceptual and ecological foundations of the human microbiome and dysbiosis, tracing how microbial imbalance contributes to tumor development. The second part examines how microbiome dysbiosis drives carcinogenesis, covering its effects on tumor immunity, the dual role of microbial metabolites as both oncogenic drivers and protective effectors, and the contribution of fungal and viral dysbiosis to cancer development and treatment. The third part surveys dysbiosis across organ-specific cancers, including gastrointestinal, skin, oral, lung, head and neck, liver, and gynecologic malignancies. This book is a valuable resource for researchers, clinicians, and students seeking to understand the complex interplay between the microbiome and cancer, with insights into potential therapeutic strategies and future research directions. - Covers the conceptual and ecological foundations of the human microbiome and the mechanisms underlying dysbiosis - Explains how microbiome dysbiosis contributes to carcinogenesis through effects on tumor immunity and microbial metabolites - Highlights the emerging role of fungal and viral dysbiosis in cancer development and treatment - Surveys dysbiosis across major organ-specific cancers, including gastrointestinal, skin, oral, lung, head and neck, liver, and gynecologic malignancies
