Sammy's House: A Novel
Liburu elektroniko honi buruz
With comedy skills honed by writing for SNL and Futurama, bestselling author Kristin Gore continues the Washington, DC, adventures of Samantha Joyce, Capitol Hill staffer turned White House healthcare advisor.
Now that her boss has gone from senator to VP, Sammy is in dream job territory, though too stressed out and sleep-deprived to really enjoy it. All is going well in her ethically questionable relationship with investigative reporter Charlie Lawton—until he's promoted to the New York bureau. A proposal trip to Paris was on Sammy's bingo card, not a long-distance relationship.
As Sammy tries to rally from her disappointment, the administration's prescription drug policy comes under fire, someone leaks top-secret information to a political blog, and the long-time sober president falls off the wagon. The ups and downs are enough to have the idealistic Sammy believing the worst of everyone: Charlie and his new female roommate, her coworkers, and even herself. But through it all Sammy can hold her head high, even when she's tumbling off a boat into the Potomac River . . .
"A wonderfully distinctive take on Washington. . . . Sammy's House is the zaniest, most ridiculous White House you'll probably ever hear about—fictional or real. At least, let's hope." — Washingtonian
"Gore creates a lovable idiosyncratic character in Sammy that lends herself well to the humorous misunderstandings that drive the novel . . . funny and believable." — LancasterOnline
