About this ebook

The Digital Resilience Method is a detailed, practical guide to Raising Resilient Kids in the Digital Age for readers who want a clear path from understanding the topic to using it confidently in real situations. The book is designed as a structured learning companion rather than a shallow overview: it introduces the core ideas, explains why they matter, then develops them through realistic examples, guided practice, scenario-based explanations, and common mistakes to avoid. Readers are taken step by step from foundational concepts into everyday applications, with each chapter building on the previous one so the material feels progressive, usable, and easy to revisit. The main areas of focus include The Digital Resilience Mindset, The Hidden Cost of Screens, Your Family Digital Audit, The Three Pillars of Digital Resilience, Setting Boundaries That Stick, The Conversation Starter, Teaching Emotional Regulation for Online Life, Common Parent Traps, The Social Media Survival Guide, Gaming Done Right, giving the book a concrete learning arc that moves from orientation and confidence-building to applied communication, problem solving, and independent practice. The writing style is direct, supportive, and accessible, making the book suitable for self-study, classroom reinforcement, professional development, or personal improvement. It emphasizes practical understanding over abstract theory, so readers can immediately connect the lessons to conversations, decisions, habits, and challenges they are likely to face outside the page. By the end of the book, readers should have not only a stronger grasp of the subject, but also a collection of repeatable strategies, useful language patterns, mental models, and practical routines they can continue applying after they finish reading.

About the author

Sam Dewitt is a parenting educator, former classroom teacher, and the founder of The Digital Resilience Project, where he works with schools and families to help children navigate technology with confidence and critical awareness. With over fifteen years of experience in child development and digital literacy education, Sam has written for *The Atlantic*, *The Wall Street Journal*, and *Education Weekly* on topics ranging from screen time and adolescent mental health to the social dynamics of online gaming communities.

Sam began his career as a middle school English teacher in Portland, Oregon, where he witnessed firsthand how smartphones and social media were reshaping his students' friendships, attention spans, and sense of self. That experience led him to pursue a master's degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Washington, with a focus on digital media's impact on adolescent development. He later served as a curriculum director for a national digital citizenship program, designing evidence-based lessons used in over three thousand schools across the United States.

Through his workshops and speaking engagements, Sam has worked with more than five hundred schools, parent groups, and community organizations, reaching tens of thousands of families. He is a certified facilitator in the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) framework and serves on the advisory board of the Family Online Safety Institute. His approach emphasizes warmth, honesty, and a firm belief that parents already have the most important tools — the question is how to use them with confidence.

Sam lives in Seattle, Washington, with his partner and two children, ages nine and fourteen, who provide him with a constant, humbling reminder that parenting in the digital age requires more listening than lecturing. When he's not speaking or writing, you can find him coaching youth soccer, failing to keep his houseplants alive, and losing to his kids at Mario Kart.
