About this ebook

Digital Declutter is a detailed, practical guide to Digital Declutter for a Focused and Productive Life for readers who want a clear path from understanding the topic to using it confidently in real situations. The book is designed as a structured learning companion rather than a shallow overview: it introduces the core ideas, explains why they matter, then develops them through realistic examples, guided practice, scenario-based explanations, and common mistakes to avoid. Readers are taken step by step from foundational concepts into everyday applications, with each chapter building on the previous one so the material feels progressive, usable, and easy to revisit. The main areas of focus include The Hidden Cost of Digital Clutter, Your Digital Clutter Score, The Minimalist Digital Framework, Week 1: Declutter Your Phone, Real Transformations: Case Studies in Digital Declutter, The Essential Email Cleanse, Digital Boundaries That Stick, 7 Common Digital Declutter Mistakes, The One-Task Rule: A Framework for Deep Work, Declutter Your Digital Workspace, giving the book a concrete learning arc that moves from orientation and confidence-building to applied communication, problem solving, and independent practice. The writing style is direct, supportive, and accessible, making the book suitable for self-study, classroom reinforcement, professional development, or personal improvement. It emphasizes practical understanding over abstract theory, so readers can immediately connect the lessons to conversations, decisions, habits, and challenges they are likely to face outside the page. By the end of the book, readers should have not only a stronger grasp of the subject, but also a collection of repeatable strategies, useful language patterns, mental models, and practical routines they can continue applying after they finish reading.

About the author

Shayla Gray is a writer, speaker, and certified productivity consultant who has spent the past decade researching the intersection of technology, attention, and human flourishing. After a personal burnout in 2018 that she attributes directly to her own unchecked digital habits, Gray embarked on a deep study of the psychology of distraction, the economics of attention, and the practical strategies that help people reclaim control of their focus.

She holds a degree in Cognitive Science from the University of California, Berkeley, where her research focused on the impact of notification systems on sustained attention and task performance. Following her graduation, she worked for two years as a user experience researcher at a major social media platform, an experience that gave her an insider's understanding of how digital products are engineered to capture and hold attention. She left the industry in 2019 to dedicate herself fully to helping individuals and organizations build healthier relationships with technology.

Gray's work has appeared in *The Atlantic*, *Wired*, and *Psychology Today*, where she writes a monthly column on digital well-being. She has delivered keynotes and workshops for companies including Google, Microsoft, and Patagonia, and her online course *Focus Fundamentals* has enrolled over fifty thousand students from more than a hundred countries.

She lives in Portland, Oregon, with her partner and their two rescue dogs. When she is not writing or speaking, she can be found hiking in the Pacific Northwest with her phone safely tucked away in her backpack.
