SHAMEION COLBERT is a health and wellness strategist who has spent the past two decades helping adults over fifty redesign their relationship with movement, nutrition, and purposeful living. After retiring early from a twenty five year career in corporate health administration, Colbert embarked on a six-year journey through forty-three countries, during which he developed and refined the practical systems that form the foundation of this book.
Colbert's work is grounded in the conviction that retirement is not a retreat from activity but an invitation to redirect it. His philosophy integrates evidence-based exercise physiology with the real-world constraints of international travel, producing strategies that are both scientifically sound and practically executable. He has written extensively on the intersection of aging, fitness, and travel for outlets including AARP The Magazine, Travel + Leisure, and The Journal on Active Aging.
A certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and a certified health coach through the American Council on Exercise, Colbert holds additional certifications in corrective exercise and senior fitness. He has served as a consultant for several international hotel chains, helping them design fitness facilities and programming that meet the needs of older travelers.
Colbert is the founder of the Vitality Without Borders initiative, a nonprofit organization that provides fitness education and equipment to retirement communities in underserved regions. He has delivered keynote addresses at the International Conference on Active Aging, the World Travel and Tourism Council Summit, and the National Council on Aging's annual meeting.
When not writing or speaking, Colbert can be found leading small-group walking tours through the national parks of southern Africa, testing resistance band routines in airport lounges, or attempting to perfect his tai chi form in public parks wherever his travels take him. He currently splits his time between a home base in Portland, Oregon, and wherever his curiosity leads him next. This is his first book.
