This is a terrible book! the premise is sound but the author has no knowledge of police procedures, and since the hero of the story is suppose to be 2nd in line to command the sheriffs office, your reading this and asking yourself, seriously? how can any officer that has worked "hard" to get those promotions be that stupid? Then you realize, its not the hero but the one writing (the author), that is THAT ignorant of police procedures. I couldn't get pass chapter 5 because I was so disgusted by the pitiful excuse of a hero who wasn't really a hero after all, just a sad excuse for a deptuty sheriff. Is anyone besides me so tried of the pitiful hero? Anyway, I finally finished but was difficult to do since it is so poorly written. There's no twist, no suprise, no reason to read this book.

I prefer a story where the characters are more than their job. we didn't know anything at all about Tara or Glenn, other than they were detectives, nothing about their homes, nothing about their lives off duty or their families, . only the very last chapter gave us any insight into who Tara was, a little too late. taras sister was mentioned, but not really introduced as a real person. am not interested in continuing the series as I like to know the characters on a much fuller basis.
