As the sole reporter for the "British Bolshevist" reporting on the doings of the League of Nations in Geneva, Henry Beechtree's days consist of attending dull committee meetings and sending scathing reports home to the paper. Henry and the rest of the press corps are delighted, therefore, when the Norwegian delegate, newly elected President of the League, vanishes suddenly from the street. The League barely has time to regroup when another delegate vanishes, and another, until the daily attrition brings all diplomatic work to a halt. Henry has a suspect in mind and sets to work to prove his theory, but Henry has a secret of his own which may keep him from seeing the truth.
