Rosa Dillard is a certified financial educator and family money coach who has spent the past fifteen years helping parents break the cycle of financial anxiety and raise children who are confident, capable, and intentional with money. She is the founder of The Money-Smart Parent, a coaching practice and online community that reaches over fifty thousand parents through workshops, courses, and her weekly newsletter.
Dillard's approach is grounded in the belief that financial literacy is not primarily about numbers—it is about emotions, values, relationships, and the stories we carry from our own childhoods. Her work draws on research from behavioral finance, developmental psychology, and her own experience as a first-generation college graduate who learned to manage money without any guidance from home. She is known for her compassionate, practical style and her ability to make financial concepts accessible to families at every income level.
Before starting her coaching practice, Dillard worked for a decade as a financial counselor at a nonprofit organization, where she helped hundreds of families navigate debt, budgeting, and financial recovery. It was there that she noticed a recurring pattern: the parents who struggled most with money were not those who lacked financial knowledge, but those who carried deep-seated anxiety about money that they had absorbed in childhood. This observation became the foundation of her life's work.
Dillard holds a degree in Family Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and is a certified Financial Social Worker (CFSW). She has served on the advisory board of the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy and has been featured as a money expert in *Real Simple*, *Parents* magazine, and the *Washington Post*. She lives in Durham, North Carolina, with her husband and two children, who serve as both her inspiration and her most honest critics.
*Raising Money-Confident Kids* is her first book.
