About the Author
Rene Sanchez is a project management consultant and systems engineer with over twenty years of experience leading complex, high-stakes construction and engineering programs across North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region. He has held senior project control roles on major infrastructure builds including rail transit systems, semiconductor fabrication plants, and deep underground laboratories, where he developed the dependency categorization and resilience-planning frameworks that form the backbone of this book.
Sanchez began his career as a field engineer on bridge construction projects in the Pacific Northwest, where he learned firsthand that the gap between a plan and reality is bridged only by disciplined adaptation. That experience led him to study systems engineering at the University of Washington, followed by project management certifications through the Project Management Institute. He later served as a program manager for a multinational engineering consortium, where he coordinated distributed teams across three continents on a multi-billion-dollar industrial construction program.
In 2018, Sanchez founded Stellar Collab Consulting, a firm that helps organizations in construction, manufacturing, and technology implement resilient project management systems. His clients range from mid-size engineering firms to Fortune 500 technology companies, and his work has been featured in *Project Management Journal*, *Construction Executive*, and *Engineering News-Record*. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences on topics including dependency management, organizational learning loops, and human-machine teaming in complex projects.
Sanchez lives in Portland, Oregon, with his partner and their two children. When he is not advising project teams, he can be found hiking in the Cascade Range, repairing vintage mechanical watches, or reading historical accounts of ambitious engineering failures—which he considers the richest source of project management wisdom available. *The Dyson Sphere Construction Crew* is his first book.
