What is the basic function of a capacitor and how 4.7 muF different from 47muF of 400v capacitor? Its basic function relates to current stabilisation or current enhancement or some other function not known to me? what will happen if a 100v-4.7muF is substituted by a 400v-4.7muF?

This is exactly what I was looking to find! Ah i wish i had come here days ago... Those poor motherboards...on the bright side, I have a TON of new chips to work with and some makeshift breadboards!!! :)
