About this ebook

What if the restlessness you have been trying to suppress is actually the hidden force meant to awaken you?

Functional Restlessness is a deeply original spiritual journey into the mystery of how ordinary inner movement, worldly struggle, love, work, energy, contemplation, and silent questioning can gradually become a path of awakening.

Here, restlessness is not treated as a weakness to be crushed or escaped. It is explored as raw life energy. When unconscious, it becomes disturbance. When guided through right living, karmayoga, non-dual contemplation, and inner sincerity, it can become a force of transformation.

Written in a simple, direct, and immersive style, the book follows the lived journey of Premyogi Vajra through school life, early spiritual glimpses, inner conflict, veterinary service, nature, fields, animals, body-based contemplation, kundalini awakening, and the long balancing of worldly responsibility with spiritual deepening.

At the heart of this journey is Sharirvigyan Darshan, a distinctive body-based non-dual contemplation that explores life as one continuous intelligence expressing through cells, animals, plants, soil, work, and consciousness itself.

This is not a distant spiritual path reserved for monks or renunciates. It is a vision rooted in ordinary life—responsibility, relationships, work, struggle, longing, observation, and unanswered questions. It explores how worldly life and inner life can support one another rather than remain opposing forces.

Through personal experience and contemplative reflection, Functional Restlessness explores:

• How early glimpses of boundless awareness can quietly reshape an entire life

• How attachment may initially nourish spiritual growth before detachment refines it

• How ordinary work and service can become karmayoga

• How nature, animals, the body, and everyday life can become objects of deep contemplation

• How non-dual awareness can develop through direct experience rather than intellectual belief

• How energy can gradually turn inward toward deeper awareness

• How kundalini awakening can emerge within an actively lived worldly life

• How restlessness itself may become a doorway to inner transformation

Blending spiritual autobiography, lived experience, biological reflection, kundalini, non-dual awareness, practical spirituality, and contemplative philosophy, Functional Restlessness offers a fresh language for modern seekers.

It is for anyone drawn to spiritual awakening, kundalini, meditation, non-duality, yoga philosophy, karmayoga, consciousness, self-discovery, and inner transformation—and especially for those who live active worldly lives while sensing something deeper, vaster, and more silent within.

If you have ever wondered whether your restlessness has a deeper meaning, this book invites you to look at it differently.

Perhaps the force you have been trying to silence was never merely a disturbance.

Perhaps it was carrying you toward awakening all along.

About the author

Premyogi Vajra is not a conventional teacher—he is a direct explorer of consciousness whose work arises from lived experience rather than formal scholarship or institutional teaching.

Author of more than 60 books in Hindi and English, his writing spans a wide spectrum of inquiry into spirituality, inner awareness, and human perception. Yet, his work is not rooted in abstract theory—it emerges from direct observation and practical exploration of consciousness itself.

His journey into inner transformation has been shaped by deep meditation, tantric understanding, and what he calls practical spiritual research—an approach that places experience above belief. Along this path, he has encountered profound states of awareness, including moments where the sense of individuality dissolves into a unified field of consciousness—states often described in yogic traditions as samadhi.

He has undergone two significant awakenings. The first unfolded spontaneously in a dream state during adolescence. The second arose through deliberate and systematic yogic practice in his forties. He has also reached states approaching keval kumbhak—the spontaneous suspension of breath—associated with nirvikalpa samadhi. Yet, he remains grounded in the understanding that such realization is not fully stabilized, and continues his practice with sincerity and dedication.

During his first awakening, he observed nonduality directly. Inspired by that experience, he intuitively developed Sharirvigyan Darshan as a practical framework to help maintain an awakened state while living in the world, to a greater or lesser extent. With this he got second awakening. After his second awakening, he similarly developed its equivalent and nondual Quantum Darshan through intuitive insight arising from that experience.

Rather than following rigid systems or borrowed doctrines, his path has been intuitive and experiential—focused on directly perceiving truth rather than adopting it from external authorities.

Beyond his inner explorations, Premyogi Vajra lives a balanced and grounded life. He has a deep interest in organic farming and animal welfare, reflecting his connection with nature and sustainable living. He enjoys meaningful cinema with his family, often combining it with travel and shared experiences.

His journeys are not merely recreational—they are driven by curiosity, observation, and a desire to understand life in its diverse expressions. In his quieter moments, he turns to music, playing the flute, harmonium, and guitar. Reading and writing remain his inborn passions.

Through his work, he does not seek followers, nor does he promote fixed doctrines. Instead, he extends an invitation—

to question, to explore, and to discover truth directly.

This book is one such invitation.
