About this ebook

For almost forty years, Paul Raymond was one Britain's most scandalous celebrities. Best known as the owner of the world famous Raymond Revuebar, he was a successful theatre impresario, property magnate and porn baron.

With his pencil moustache, gold jewellery and taste for showgirls, Raymond was both the brash personification of nouveau riche vulgarity and exemplar of the entrepreneurial spirit that enabled a poor boy from Liverpool to become Britain's richest man.

'Like 24 Hour Party People, we want to capture the life of an extraordinary man living in extraordinary times' Steve Coogan

I enjoyed reading this book and thought it was a worthy novel about the pornographic industry. The main themes of the book are: strip clubs, sexual exploitation of women, culture of Britain in the nineteen sixties, crime related to pornography. i would recommend this work or non fiction to any man who wants to know about Paul Raymond or has viewed the film The Look of Love starring Steve Coogan. I encountered this book in Woking library secondhand and decided to read it because of it's connection with Soho. Also because I am familiar with the name Paul Raymond having viewed various DVDs which come attached with his soft-core porn magazines.
