About this ebook

An old warrior too stubborn to die. A royal heir hidden since birth.

Tragedy tears Gerald's world apart, and only his unwavering loyalty saves him. After serving as a soldier for years, a single act of self-sacrifice thrusts his future into the world of politics.

Cut off from all he knows, he becomes no more than a pawn to those in command. Banished to an obscure royal estate with little more than the clothes on his back, he’s left searching for purpose in a life that no longer makes sense.

For what is a warrior who has nothing left to fight for?

A chance encounter draws him into a secret he was never meant to uncover—one that gives him a purpose he believed was gone.

Faced with someone cast aside and alone, he cannot simply walk away.

In choosing to stay, he places himself at odds with those in power—where doing what’s right carries consequences he cannot escape.

Servant of the Crown is the first book in the completed 15-book epic fantasy series, Heir to the Crown.

Start today and binge the entire series—no waiting.

Truly, couldn't put it down. Read all day, didn't cross a single thing off my to-do list and I'm a very picky reader. The characters and relationships are exceptionally well-crafted. The need for chosen family and the support provided by people who unexpectedly enter our lives is very relatable and touching.

I absolutely love Paul J Bennett's books, He not only writes the story bringing his characters to life His writing pulls you into the storyline. You feel the different emotions and everything the characters experience. You're transported to these different times and worlds and everything comes together seamlessly and you don't want the stories to end . Thank you Mr Bennett for letting me get to know your complex characters and amazing worlds .

About the author

Paul J Bennett (b. 1961) emigrated from England to Canada in 1967. His father served in the British Royal Navy, and his mother worked for the BBC in London. He followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1983. He is married to Carol Bennett, and has three daughters who are all creative in their own right.

Paul’s interest in writing started in his teen years when he discovered the roleplaying game ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson. What attracted him to this new hobby was the creativity it required; the need to create realms, worlds and adventures that pull the gamers into his stories.

In his 30’s, Paul started to dabble in creating his own roleplaying system, using the Peninsular War in Portugal as his backdrop. His regular gaming group were willing victims, er, participants in helping to playtest the new system. A few years later he took his roleplaying system and added additional settings; including Science Fiction, Post-Apocalyptic, World War II, and the all-important Fantasy Realm.

The beginnings of his first book ‘Servant to the Crown’ originated three years ago when he began a new fantasy campaign. For the world of Merceria, he ran his adventures like a TV show; with seasons that each had twelve episodes, and an overarching plot. After the campaign ended, he was inspired to sit down to write his first novel; he knew all the characters, what they had to accomplish, what needed to happen to move the plot along.

Paul has mapped out an entire series entitled ‘Heir to the Crown’ in the World of Merceria and is looking forward to sharing all the books with his readers over the next few years.
