About this ebook
Richard Monte and Lyra Chen have reached the point where clever engineering is no longer enough. As a fragile coalition struggles to prevent a catastrophic failure, the pair must separate what the instruments can prove from what the old continental network seems to be warning them about. Every solution carries a cost, and every delay narrows their options.
With the containment threshold approaching and a public firing schedule looming, Richard must resist his instinct to protect everyone by deciding for them. Lyra insists on evidence, explicit limits, and a choice made with both of them fully aware of the risk. Their plan depends on a single paired, phase-locked transit—and the available energy will not permit a second attempt.
In this final book of The Spice & Sprocket Chronicles, speculative engineering, political conflict, hard-won trust, and a slow-burning romance converge in a high-pressure race to get home. The consequences will be permanent, and there is no repeatable way through.
