Since the day her father’s fishing boat returned without him, Peri and her mother have mourned his loss. Her mother sinks into a deep depression and spends her days gazing out at the sea, dreaming of the kingdom beneath the waves. Unable to control her anger and sadness any longer, and wishing her mother could be the way she once was, Peri uses the small magic she knows to hex the sea. I was expecting a story with a little more substance to it. I enjoyed reading it, but wished I could have delved deeper into Periwinkle's and the sea queen's world. This book felt like a fireside story to me.

I've been looking for this book for years! (well up till my twenties) Especially since the book i had read it from was physically old and didn't have the title. I've read it once, when i was just 10 and could never put it down. This story has been stuck in my heart for so long.. I'd recommend to anyone, especially youngsters, who loves fantasy.
