I have kept his core message, deep insight into the Christian life, and passionate call to surrender intact while adapting the content and language for today’s world. The heart of the book—understanding the true nature of sin and its devastating effects on the soul—is just as needed now as it was in Chambers’ day.

Wherever possible, I have maintained Chambers’ earnest and compelling style. However, the chapter titles and much of the content have been rewritten to reflect how a believer living in the twenty-first century would apply these life-changing truths.
