Osborne has been writing and publishing short fiction for over fifteen years, with more than eighty stories published across markets including Clarkesworld, Beneath Ceaseless Skies, Lightspeed, Strange Horizons, and Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine. Their work has been nominated for the Nebula Award and the World Fantasy Award, and has appeared in six "Year's Best" anthologies.
In addition to writing, Osborne has taught craft and career workshops at the Odyssey Writing Workshop, the Taos Toolbox, and the Writers Digest Conference. They served as a guest editor for Fireside Fiction and as a judge for the Horror Writers Association's Bram Stoker Awards. Their newsletter, The Craft Forward, reaches over twelve thousand subscribers monthly with practical advice on the business and craft of short fiction.
Osborne lives in Portland, Oregon with their partner and a revolving cast of rescue animals. When not writing, they can be found hiking the Columbia River Gorge, reading submissions for a private slush consultancy, or arguing about the Oxford comma on social media.
