Oriental Lens 31 is a visual collection centered on contemporary East Asian women and the natural expression of the human figure in fine art.
Departing from the monochrome studios, dark-toned backgrounds, and classical poses often associated with traditional figure photography, this volume brings the female body into a brighter, more vivid, and distinctly contemporary world of space and color. White modern museum courtyards, glass conservatories, geometric color-block studios, nighttime hot-spring gardens, contemporary Japanese-style suites, and still-life spaces composed of tropical fruit and silk are more than mere backgrounds; they become essential visual elements that interact with the figures themselves.
The women portrayed in this volume have distinctly East Asian features, while differing in age, hairstyle, skin tone, and physical proportions. Rather than pursuing the slender, standardized ideal of the fashion model, their bodies retain a fuller sense of weight, softly relaxed abdomens, rounded curves, and strength through the hips and legs. Whether standing, sitting sideways, walking, looking back, half-kneeling, leaning, or simply resting, each pose grows from the body’s natural balance rather than from an attempt to create deliberate seduction.
Here, nudity is neither a performance nor an end in itself.
