Very well written by a competent writer. I actually couldn't stop reading this book (and it doesn't happen very often to me), because he achieve to keep this very technical (and rather boring) standard at an interesting level, by relating it to everyday problems that DICOM users are faced with. Thus, it answers the many questions by simple examples, that the standard itself does not provide. I can highly recommend this book to physicist and software developers. I work as a computer scientist at a radiation therapy center.

A clear exposition of the DICOM 3.0 interface for prospective PACS system administrators and would-be (and are-now) programmers developing systems using DICOM. Coupled with access to the DICOM standards documents, the job, while far from a piece of cake or even several pieces, becomes a lot easier. This book is clear and precise and logical in its organisation. The author has personal experience in the subject matter.

After having spent more time in my life than I would have wished on my worst enemies reading the DICOM standards documents, libraries, and other material, this was the most straightforward DICOM literature I have read. A must have for those doing medical informatics.
