About this ebook

The CISIA English TEST HUMANITIES is used for admission to humanities degree programmes at Italian universities — and there is almost nothing written for it. Most candidates prepare with IELTS or TOEFL material, which trains one of the three sections and ignores the other two entirely.

This guide is built for the exam you will actually sit: 30 questions in 90 minutes, three separately timed 30-minute sections of ten questions each, five options per question, and no penalty for a wrong answer.

WHAT THIS BOOK DOES DIFFERENTLY

Every chapter comes from an item-by-item analysis of CISIA's official practice test. The book is organised by question type rather than by random practice sets, so a reader who is weak on one type can drill that type as a block:

• Reading and Comprehension — meaning in context; implicit meaning; relationship and focus; detail, reference and exclusion.

• Clues and Inductive Reasoning — evidence selection; implication and speaker's meaning; verification; cause, reason and conclusion.

• Reasoning on Texts and Data — tables; charts; numerical reasoning; formal logic; codes and puzzles; argument.

Every answer explains not only why the correct option is correct, but why each of the four wrong options was written and which trap it uses. Charts are drawn in the style of the real exam, including the cut axes that make small differences look large.

WHAT MOST CANDIDATES GET WRONG

A wrong answer and a blank score exactly the same on this test: zero. Guessing is not a last resort here — it is compulsory, and the book shows the arithmetic.

Several habits carried over from other English exams will actively cost you marks. Avoiding options that contain "always" or "never" is one of them; on this test a universal claim is often the correct answer. The book names these rules, explains why they fail here, and replaces them with methods built for this format.

WHO IT IS FOR

Applicants to Italian humanities degrees, in Italy or abroad, working at CEFR level B2. No subject knowledge is needed — the exam tests reading and reasoning, not literature or history. Suitable for both TEST@HOME and TEST@UNI candidates.

This edition is updated regularly and buyers receive all future updates at no extra cost.

Independent study guide. Not affiliated with, authorised by, or endorsed by CISIA. All practice questions are original.
