About the author

The art of macramé has been with us since the dawn of recorded history. Ancient civilizations like the Babylonians and Assyrians are credited with developing the macramé knots still in use today. Though it is easy to forget the simple, easier ways of doing things due to technology and the internet, there is a calming aspect associated with macramé that refuses to go away. Unlike weaving or cross-stitch, macramé uses knots to produce intricate designs with lasting effects.

After a career in fashion, Michelle Ford decided to devote herself to what was one of her greatest passions: Sewing. While studying new ways to improve home décor with her art she discovered Macramé, learned how to make clothes and costume jewelry and then ten years later she became one of the most influential Macramé artists in her small town in New Jersey. Finally, on the advice of her husband, she decided to write this book to share her greatest passion with the public.
