The last update has made the entire book one page so no matter where I am in the book, when I close it it will reopen at the first page. Very annoying. I give up.

Ive not read MMS since I picked up an end of run Only Forwards what seems like decades ago and was fascinated by its strangeness. Spares is just as good with its world gone wrong scenario. What was interestingly disturbing was reading an ebook with a page count stuck on 2/11 and 9% for the whole read. I never realised how disturbing a book with no page numbers could be.

Read this book first when it came out..re reading it now it is still as good as I remember. A quality you don't find often in a rereading.

About the author

Michael Marshall Smith was born and raised – itinerantly – in the USA and the UK. Since leaving University he has been writing: for radio, for the movies, for TV and for print. After the success of Spares, Warner Brothers have already bought the rights to his third novel, One of Us, amid intense competition. His novels are bestsellers in translation around the world. Mike lives in North London, where he is currently working on his fourth novel and a number of film projects while providing a warm place for his cats to sleep.
